This is breaking news in Los Angeles from some Occupy specialists. We continue to follow our breaking news today: Severe Forecast Alert. There is high wind warning in effect until 10PM Tuesday night and likely beyond with additional activity throughout the coming months.

Occupy Los Angeles says thousands protesters will take to the streets Tuesday May 1st, in a 4-Winds Convergence on Downtown LA.

The 99% plans to put the 1% out of power all over the southland in coordination with similar events in 150 different cities around the world.

Everyone should be prepared in some of those areas, especially in the center of downtown.

The 1% are expected to be out of power for about 24 hours.

We are also getting word that near Olympic and Wilshire, Cesar Chavez and Atlantic, Cal State Dominguez, and in the valley — in those areas people are being asked to stay home from work, school, shops, gas stations, banks, and other institutional places because the amount of power struggles and fallen liberties which remain down in those neighborhood and around the city and throughout the rest of the world which are creating some pretty dangerous situations.

And all of this stems from the corruption that we have been seeing all our lives that have caused these social, economic, and political problems. We are continuing to track this dangerous and damaging Wall-Street storm and situation along the LA front. There has been a force of high pressure in recent years and decades coming from above to squelch the 99%, but…

Contrasting with the high pressure system is an unprecedented level of internal and external Solidarity, which experts in the field can’t make heads or tails of, but warn can be an absolute powder keg — and could lead to drastic changes in the way we experience the natural world.

So, the 99% are taking to the street to fight for:
* IM/MIGRANT RIGHTS
* ECONOMIC, SOCIAL, AND ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE
* LABOR RIGHTS
* PEACE
* CIVIL LIBERTIES
* HOUSING, EDUCATION, AND HEALTH CARE AS HUMAN RIGHTS
* WOMEN’S RIGHTS, LGBTQ RIGHTS, AND GENEDER EQUITY

These are just some of the issues that represent just a small fraction of the problems that we’ve seen. We’ve seen Human Rights topple over like trees in a tornado. The debris and destruction from corporate corruption and Wall Street greed litter the homes, streets, and communities we all live in.

The Occupy Movement has been tracking this stingy storm and we’ve measured transgression at 100-miles per hour in particular areas.

To put this into prospective, the reason why this is such a huge event compared to other in recent pasts, is really the duration. We have had situations before where the Occupiers have been this strong but in general it focused in one area or a couple of blocks and then quickly tapered off. Since the end of the encampment, Occupy LA has spread throughout the city and has caused structural cracks in the 1%’s foundation from Simi Valley to Long Beach.

These historic winds have been building and on May 1st we are going to see these strong wind gusts coming from the North, South, East, and West. The winds will be picking up around 7am, peaking around noon and sustaining themselves well through the night.

It’s the duration and the widespread nature of these events which is really making it significant.

Take a look at all these wind gusts here:

The winds will pick up in the morning, around 7am mostly in the valley near Panorama High School and will breeze towards Hermandad Mexicana and those winds will stay strong until around 9am. Around the same hour, winds are going to start picking up around Cal State Dominguez, these winds will be blowing towards Compton and Watts.

About midmorning, we’re are going to see winds also picking up at Cesar Chavez around Atlantic and These winds will gust towards Obregon Park. And roughly around the same time those winds will get going, winds near the Ocean and Wilshire will blanket the west side. They will breeze along Wilshire Blvd until MacArthur Park.

And along the path of each wind gust there will be a hodge podge of flashpoints along the way that are going to get some of these wind gusts as well. Maybe allow a couple of extra minutes because again we are expecting delays across the region.

The Occupy Movement doesn’t look like they have calmed down a bit since we’ve seen them in City Hall Park, renamed Solidarity Park by the Occupiers, nearly 5 months ago.

The economic and social damage caused by the 1% is definitely widespread. You cannot go down a single street in these areas and see not the effect of Wall Street’s destructive and fraudulent nature. The 1% has toppled down upon the 99%. That’s just a common sight when you drive around LA.

These effects are very, very forceful. That’s what brought the Occupiers to City Hall in the first place over 7 months ago. We talked to many folks there and they shared our many of our concerns. Many people told us about the economic and social issues they face.

A mother of a disabled daughter being illegally evicted from her fraudulently foreclosed house by Bank of America. Communities being terrorized by the police. The minority without equal rights and privilege. The recent graduate enslaved by debt. The laborer without a job.

The cancer patient without healthcare. The autistic child without an adequately paid teacher. The homeless without shelter. The addicted without treatment. The retiree without a pension. The senior without social security. The immigrant who lives in fear of making a better life for herself and her family. The families without out adequate nutritional food to eat. The farmer without the freedom to grow their own seeds. The grieved without the Right for redress. The woman without equal pay or respect. The Gay youth without hope that it will get better. The transgender without protection from cruel discrimination and attacks. The 99% without social, economic, and political equity. The world without peace, without justice.

The 1% has either taken these from the 99% or never allowed the 99% to have them and on May 1st, the 99% show the 1% what it’s like have a day without the 99% partaking in their corrupt and contaminated systems.

Now our forecast will turns back to the wild weather in southern California that will start the day off. Startling reports that Labor Unions will shut down LAX before commute time on Tuesday morning. Which could leave passengers stranded in the dark after massively destructive corporate winds tore through that region. You cannot officially call it hurricane force but the impact is just as powerful.

Fierce degrading gusts of exploitation have ripped through California taking down many of the basic living stands and knocking out the 99%’s power to at least millions who have been shaking in the wind and as the hope goes completely dark with depravity caused by Wall Street’s influence on our politics.

And on May 1st, one of the nation’s busiest airports may be shut down as a result of the revolutionary winds kicking up in protest against heartless corporate masters. Flights may be diverted. Passengers may be stranded. Lights may go out at LAX Tuesday Morning.

The most powerful winds California has seen in 10 years with these corrupt winds fanning the flames of passionate fire in the protesters hearts. Occupy will be sending out all of its crews for this day of protest.

Temperatures for the most part in many areas on Tuesday will remain calm and cool. Let’s hope the authorities can remain the same. Many Occupiers have expressed their peaceful and non-violent intentions for this national day of immigrants, workers, and human rights.

Let’s hope the police stay away as they have a history of turning minor disasters into major ones, especially around this time of year. We don’t want them to turn this May Day into a disaster like they caused in 2007. The LAPD were the reason for brutal wind chills that year. This year on May 1st, Occupiers say the winds are going to shift.

This Advisory will remain in effect until 1% loosens their grip on the 99%’s chances for eqaulity.

The brunt of this storm system is about to change directions…

There is lot more going on and we’ll tell you all about it here. The National Occupy Service just sent out information about the days events. To see our Occupy Doppler and all the forecast for all things Occupy on May First in LA, please visit us at:

@ 3pm WE MARCH

The four winds converge to MARCH and SHUTDOWN THE FINANCIAL DISTRICT
and to engage in A DISCIPLINED, MASS, NONVIOLENT, DIRECT ACTION.

We assemble to show our power, solidarity, and discipline as a people, celebrating the strength of workers, dreamers, and oppressed peoples everywhere. We march together as a presence and force of resistance outside of a political process that leaves no room for the voice of the people. This creative action is inclusive of all, and organized for everyone to empower struggle in the face of repression and facilitate a clear call for revolutionary accountability from the perpetrators of mass injustice in our communities.

Many of us who march militantly do so, above all, for the safety and protection of all people on this action. We anticipate three different zones forming organically, and encourage fully informed participation in the M1GS march.

Red:
This attracts anti-capitalists, anti-fascists and other more militant comrades of a revolutionary bent. We encourage affinity groups to work together in a show of disciplined and organized resistance. This is the zone that is predisposed to standing their ground against the police.

Yellow:
This zone typically caters to people who are in between red and green, who are conscience of police repression and direct or mass actions but recognize some element of risk and would like to be cautious of escalation.

Green:
This attracts individuals who prefer a quieter, safer environment. Some of these groups may include the undocumented, differently-abled, children, families or anyone not wanting to come into direct confrontation with the police.

These zones do not serve to limit any individual’s actions but exist to facilitate a positive experience. In case the march is escalated by police repression, Pershing Square is considered a green zone for those who may feel uncomfortable.

IN CASE OF POLICE INTERACTION:

Do not panic.
Do not talk to the police.
Do not intervene in the actions of others.
If you feel unsafe, move away.

Provocateurs and Police Agents will spread false information and attempt to escalate the situation. Remain calm, do not panic. Do not spread information that has not been verified.

Remember, in the face of the adversary, WE SHOW FULL SOLIDARITY.

Feed the Poor!

May 1st, We Eat!

We’re not promoting cannibalism here at occupymay1st.org, but you really have to wonder — if the global capitalists continue to strip away our rights, our dignity and our independence, what will we have left to eat, but the rich?

On May 1st, we’ll get our sustenance from each other, from common cause, from standing up to power and from thoughtful, committed action against the flow of capital and for the rights of the oppressed in this country and internationally. In Los Angeles, there is an abundance of really worthwhile things to do on your yearly-day-off-for-yourself-and-fellow-humyn (and we’ll be providing some actual food along the way as well). The East and South Wind caravans will be feeding the people along their routes. On the West Wind, there is a “Let Them Eat Cupcakes” flash mob in Beverly Hills in the afternoon, and that morning in the Valley the North Wind will be serving a vegan breakfast before shutting their area down. The central hub on 6th & Main St, on the border of Skid Row, will be focused on feeding the people of Skid Row before we all converge and take our feast of direct actions to the Financial District.

So take a day off, and come join us and our fellow indignants as we traverse this city all day long, shut it down, and meet in the center to talk, drink and eat before a historic General Assembly at 7pm.

Occupy Los Angeles centric plans can be found here, complete with maps, press releases and detailed breakdowns of why we’ve chosen our respective routes and action points throughout the city.

The Black Riders considers itself to be the new generation Black Panther Party for Self-Defense. We are a Black Revolutionary organization that stands against terrorism, racism, capitalism, and imperialism. Our organization was created in 1996. We started off by organizing numerous Bloods and Crips to stop gangbanging and committing Black on Black violence. We helped to transform the criminal gangsta mentality into a positive Revolutionary mentality. We also created a ‘watch a pig’ program to patrol our community and police the police. Since then our organization has been subjected to military style raids, harassment, and arrests of numerous members on trumped up charges. May day represents a day of resistance to capitalism, racism, and Imperialism across the planet. As we work together in solidarity with Occupy L.A and others, it will raise awareness amongst poor oppressed people that our fight against oppression should be based on a race and class struggle!

On 15 November 2011, Occupy LA’s General Assembly consented to planning for a May 1st People’s General Strike. For the effective mobilization of Los Angeles communities, the General Strike Preparation Committee broke into four separate winds of ‘caravans’ – South, North, East, and West- each with their own distinct and mixed cultures and economics, converging at Pershing Square, downtown Los Angeles.

The South Wind travels though pockets of middle class neighborhoods, surrounded by vast, impoverished areas which have sometimes been compared to Soweto: a racially segregated township which has seen decades of brutal and violent state repression and economic neglect.

On May 1st, 2012, by declaring a People’s General Strike, all the communities of South LA in conjunction with Occupy LA, will peacefully and proudly reclaim their community from the oppressive, and exploitative rule of the 1%. To achieve this goal, the South Wind is reaching out to im/migrants, The Black Riders Liberation Party, Black clergy, the Interfaith community, The Black Panthers, The Black Employees Association, the black lesbian group, Here to Stay Coalition, the South Central Neighborhood Council, the South Central farmers, South East Workers Alliance, The Youth Justice Coalition, The Nation of Islam and other organizations in the neighborhood.

The South Wind recalls the words of the prominent pastor and theologian, Reverend Dr. Lewis E Logan II, at the General Assembly of Occupy LA, that the clergy have “a moral obligation not only to speak on the pulpit, but to be actively engaged in the campaign for the empowerment of the less privileged in the tradition of Dr. Martin Luther King.”

Our intention is to travel in solidarity along Los Angeles’ Central Avenue, with its historic and inspiring milestones in the struggle for civil and human rights in America.

We will start our journey together at Cal State Dominguez Hills, a purportedly public university which, like every college in the United States in 2012, imposes punitive fees on students which deprive the working poor of their human right to an education. Our next stop, at 112th Street, The Maxine Waters Employment Preparation Center, makes this point even more apparent. As the rich in this country continue to grow richer, one of the most impoverished neighborhoods in California is being told that adult education will be taken away from the community, because it is not ‘profitable’. Our caravan of vehicles will continue to move along Central Avenue through Compton and Watts, the community in which The Black Riders Liberation Party have been organizing and forging truces between gangs of warring factions for nearly twenty years.

As we pull up at 41st and Central, the historic site and former headquarters of the Black Panther Party, we will honor our sisters and brothers who were ambushed by the LAPD in December 1969, and had to defend themselves from a brutal and unprovoked attack. Since 2007 alone, over 200 people, the majority of which are people of color, have been killed by the LAPD and LA County Sheriffs.

The South Wind makes several stops along the route, all with an emphasis on the need for economic emancipation and racial justice in this neglected and ignored majority black and brown community which our brothers and sisters here today have tirelessly served, despite the penalties which this has brought them from the system.

Our unprecedented show of solidarity on this May 1st General Strike – as people of color, as activists, as clergy, as youth, as community organizers, as community members, as brothers and sisters united in struggle – we accept that our unity will be perceived as threatening to the state apparatus who wish to silence us. Knowing this, in addition to being accompanied and monitored by journalists from different parts of the world, the South Wind has assembled a team of local and international legal / human rights observers. For one day, May 1st 2012, we disparate groups – black, brown, red, and oppressed whites – stand up to commence a citywide, nonviolent campaign for living-wage jobs, good public education, economic opportunities, justice for immigrants, with human and civil rights for all.

Occupy LA made the call for a General Strike in Los Angeles on 19th December, 2011, issuing the following statement:

“Occupy LA supports in principle a General Strike on May 1, 2012, for migrant rights, jobs for all, a moratorium on foreclosures, and peace – and to recognize housing, education and health care as human rights, and calls for the building of a broad coalition to make that a reality.”

Occupations, individuals, groups, organizations and trade unions across the nation, seething with righteous outrage at the oppression of the people as they express their discontent with the deliberate silencing of all those who oppose the concentration of wealth and power into the hands of the 1%, have taken this call up in droves. 60 cities across the nation have called for a People’s General Strike, and pledged to walk out of schools, call in sick to work, and disrupt the financial system by refusing to participate in it for one day – May 1st, 2012. Despite this, the mainstream media has restated its allegiance with the 1% by its silence and deliberate negligence in covering what promises to be a day of solidarity and unity between all those who have had enough of suffering injustice and inequality at the hands of the rich.

Of course, just because this is historic, and because no living human being has seen an anti-capitalist mass mobilization of this magnitude in the United States in their lives, doesn’t mean it’s news. Much like the fact that having hundreds of occupations of public space at the same time wasn’t news last fall, this all seems a bit ho-hum to the Mainstream Media 10 days before May 1.

Without further ado, the list of participating cities as of 4/21 [we may have missed some UPDATE: we did. A more complete list of <del>115 cities</del> 125 cities and rising can be found here]:
